Is there anyone out there who plays the bass guitar? Just wondering...

    If so, what's your gear?

I have a Fender MIM Jazz Deluxe and a Fender Bassman 150. Nothing much, but it's a start.

If you have a MIM (made in Mexico) Fender Jazz, it's not Deluxe. The Deluxe models are made in USA and are much better. The MIM's are just called the Standard Jazz Bass. I have one too, a Fretless MIM Jazz and I love it to death, just letting you know I think your info is a little off.
Anyway, I have a MIM Fretless Jazz bass, and a Schecter Stiletto Deluxe (both 4-string) and a Peavy Basic 112 amp (it's fucked up, needs some work)

^Wow, you must not know anything. BC Riches are metal basses, nothing but low end and very little (if any) treble. You NEED lots of treble/mids for a good slap bass. Fenders are fucking GREAT for slapping (and pretty much everything else), they're great sounding basses, well made and have a reputation that NO company can fuck with. You don't know shit.
    Fender > BC Rich

i am a metal bassist thats why i play a bc rich and ya know there is such thing as an equalizer which you can use to change how your bass sounds although i agree that bc rich basses are not the best slap basses they do alright

anyway the only reason that fender is still around is that people are brainwashed into thinking that they are the best.

congratulations you are a corporate whore.

I played bass guitar for about 4-5yrs. I recently drifted out of it...I took lessons from Dave LaRue. If you dont know who he is...look him up, he is one hell of a bass player...But yea, I played drums for 3yrs...drifted out of that right into Bass...I found my sistes Primus CD...Started to love Les Claypools style..then i listened to other Bass players...I have seen Victor Wooten in concert and that concert alone made me want to play bass so bad.

Here are my 3 bass guitars

Jesus christ. I'm a "corporate whore" for knowing what is good and what's not? First off, anyone who uses terms like "corporate whore" is a fuckin retard, especially when you're talking about something like a guitar company. They have the reputation for being the best because they are the best. Fender was the first company to make an electric bass, and what they did 50 years ago is still considered the best and the most imitated style/sound on Earth.

I'll admit it, when I first started playing, I didn't like Fenders. Mostly because damn-near everyone has one and they all look basically the same. But you know what happened? I actually fuckin played one! I bet you never even played one (not a decent one anyway). For metal, they're not the best but they're good. For slap however, they are one of the best ever, the Jazz bass is practically made for slap. They didn't get stay around for so long because "people are brainwashed", they're around cause they make awesome instruments. Think about it douche, why is it that about 90% of classic rock bassists and Jazz bassists from the 60's and 70's play Fenders? And still today they are the most widely used company in the world? Were we brainwashed? No you dillusional retard, everyone plays them because they're one of the best basses around, they sound great and they're reliable, nothing to do with brainwashing you tool.

And by the way, you might wanna watch yourself. First you say BC Rich is "possibly the best slap bass ever", then you say "BC Rich basses are not the best slap basses", so which is it dumbass?

Anyway, you don't know what you're talking about, I doubt you ever even played a Fender, and you probably suck at bass.

i have played several fender basses and i still dont like em. i hate fenders plain and simple. nothing can change my opinion, you can like fenders all you want. i dont give a shit. i think they sound bad. and if you think im stupid for it fuck you. fenders suck. epiphone is the best sounding bass......and that is that
i would not argue something that i know nothing about.

Dude, I wasn't saying you're stupid for what you said. I related to your opinion, I used to be the same way. I hated Fenders, until I tried a nice one, so I figured you might be doing the same thing. I'm not challenging your opinion (except for the BC Rich slap thing, I can't believe someone likes them for slapping). I'm just trying to open your eyes to something new and ultimately something awesome IMO. The reason you gave for not liking Fenders in your other post (about brainwashing and whatnot) is just a stupid reason not to like them. If you played Fenders before and dislike them, fine. That's your opinion. I'm just saying don't be too close minded about basses like I was in the beginning. Sometimes the shit you hate at first turns out to be one of your favorites when you really give it a chance.

alright i see your point. im not really closed minded tho i tried alot of stuff before i baught my epiphone and i liked that one the best. but fenders arent the worst bass ever i just dont think they are the best thats all. if you like em thats cool. its just not my thing. any way. i think youre a cool guy and not like alot of the other douchebags on this forum. so hopefully we dont fight over stupid shit like this anymore.

    friends?

    epiphone is still the best
