hm this is tough. but i think IMO that Dime bag darrel was probably the best dead thrash metal guitarist, and layne staley was the best singer for a grunge band... narrow it down

Well, dead musician means any musician from the dawn of man and somebody says Dimebag. :hilarious: AT least you clarified by adding the thrash metal part.

I would go with Django Reinhardt. Miles Davis pulls a close second.
