heres my plan, since me and my freind drive randomly a lot searching for old cars to buy, sometimes for a few hours, we have decided to build the ultimate fuel economy hot rod, it will be based on the 70-71 HEMI 'Cuda, in terms of looks but it will actually be a 90-93 ford festiva. the plan goes as follows,

shaker hood with non-functional scoop that looks like a cuda shaker.
powder coat the 'Tiva's steel wheels the same color as 'Cuda rallys.
paint it hemi orange with blacked out panel between the tail lights.
paint black billboard graphics on the sides.
replace stock shift knob with a pistol grip from a real 'Cuda.
cut the "fes" off the festiva emblem and add an apostropie.

we plan on spending about $500-600 on a nice festiva.
were going to use old hemi orange enamel paint that we already have, fabricate an aluminuim or steel shaker scoop for free out of scrap metal using an english wheel. use a dye to put new threads on the stock shifter so the pistol grip will screw onto it. so maybe well have like $600-700 into the whole project.

any ideas on how to make the hemi 'Tiva look more like a hemi "cuda??

eww, thats not a festiva at all, thats the aspire that replaced the festiva
festiva
thers a festiva.

it wont look anything like a 'Cuda, if it really gets built it will be more of a joke than any actual attempt at looking like a 'Cuda. look at the wheels on the festiva, ther like little midget mopar rallys.

Lol, I'll still be impressed if you can make it out of that, joke or not.

I don't like it... I don't like it at all. Your attempting to turn a Tiva, a predominately fuel-econo car from the mid 90's into a monster of the day, Hemi housed muscle car built for a completely different reason by a rival company.

There are already fuel-efficient hotrod cars out there. You have the RSX Type S, Ion Redline, Cobalt SS, Neon SRT-4, Civic Si, Civic Type-R and the list goes on and on...

i think your missing the concept, the festiva is gay as fuck, but it dose get up to 50 mpg with the 5-speed, this is why it was selected. i see your point that the 'Cuda is a plymouth and the festiva is a so-called "ford". but i feel that the hemi cuda is a more recognized car than say a Boss 429 or a cobra jet torino, this is why the Hemi 'Cuda was selected. also the idea of a festiva with a shaker and billboard graphics is very funny to me, because the 'Cuda was probably one of the most badass cars ever built and the festiva is a... well, mazda 121 in disguise.

If you wanted to be true to the brand you could always get something like a Plymouth Horizon, aka Dodge Omni, and do aformentioned modifcations to it instead of a festiva.

It's so funny IMO...Turn a Korean-made car into a domestic icon hehehe.....That's great. I personally dont see how you will pull the joke off without making the car look like a confused asian cross-dresser - but whatever happens (if it does...) I bet it's going to be funny...Good Luck!
