Low carb diets...

    ...are annoying me. Ok, first off, people shouldn't trust a mere diet alone to combat weight. They should workout, go outside, go for a run, walk around the neighborhood, wash their cars, hell anything besides sitting down watching TV while stuffing their faces. I mean, have people become this lazy?

    Also...correct me if I'm wrong...I doubt carbs really have that much impact on people getting fat. The Chinese (as well as other Asian people) and the Italians have been eating foods packed with carbs (rice, noodles, bread) for thousands of years. If you go to Italy or China I doubt that you would see many obese people.

    And another thing....what the hell is up with all these low-carb foods coming out? There's low-carb orange juice, low-carb peanut butter, hell even low-carb ice cream. I know companies are trying to cash in on this fad but if people really wanted to lose weight they wouldn't eat ice cream period in the first place.

    Now...what do you people think about this?

    They said that sitting on a couch, watching TV and eating fast food makes you fat...

    ...well, I do that... and I dont get fat, as a matter of fact, I dont gain an ounce.

    Protein rich foods are more filling than carbohydrate based ones. If you eat to excess you will become fat. The Atkins diet works because it is based on protein rich food. If you eat too much you will become fat, ever heard of a fat Ethiopian?

    Basically if you eat Protein based foods they will fill you up more than carbohydrate based foods, so you eat less of them. You can only get fat by one way- eating too much. I have no sympathy for fat people, you eat too much, you weigh too much- basic biology.

    i believe very much in low carb diets. i have seen much success with friends and family. as long as the "dieters" stick with the low carbs, they should eventually be losing weight. but i dont have much more to say on this topic, i am on no diet but just eating in a healthy manner. always worked for me

    Actually, my mom and a few other people she knows lost a shitload of weight--my mom lost 40 lbs.-- by avoiding carbs. And she did absoultely no exercise....she can't actually. The discs in her back are fucked up so basically all she can do is go for walks, which I doubt do much along the lines of weight loss.


    But still, it worked.

    it all depends on the person. low carb diets work because carbohydrates break down into simple sugars. if you eat too many carbs your body converts these sugars in glycogen which is stored as fat. in conclusion, eat the right serving you fools.

    Yes and no, some people put on weight easier than others. But at the end of the day if you eat too much then you run the risk of getting fat. You can only get fat by excessive feeding, fact. People who are fat eat too much, simple as that.

    Carbohydrates that dont get worked off turn into sugar which then turns into fat. I tried the low carb "South Beach Diet" and I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks by just avoiding carbs and following their meal plans. Aoiding carbs is the way to go to lose a few quick pounds, but as soon as you start eating carbs again the weight come back on. The best way to avoid the weight coming back is to ease back into eating carbs.

    At my lowest, I lost 26 pounds in about a month... Got off it and only gained 5 pounds back...they're fucking fine with me.

    Mind passing along that diet plan? Going to Cancun in a month, and I've got a tiny bit of baby fat that I haven't burned off yet from weightlifting... :D

    okay, the atkins thing is a load of crap, all they say is that, all you have to do is not eat any carbs, and you can have whatever you want.. well now, what they dont tell you, at most places that support this diet, is that the food that meets their spec's dosent have many carbs.. but it has a buttload of fat.. which means, if youre on this diet. supposedly you could eat a bucket of lard. as long as you dont smear it on any bread! they dont explain that you have to exercise in order to not be a lazy fat sack of crap.

    South Beach diet recipies
    My diet basically consisted scrambled eggs and bacon in the morning (pertty cool for a diet eh? :D) Salad with tuna on top (No mainaisse though) uhm then oil and vinager dressing on top. Then for dinner I'd have some fish. The first few days suck ALOT with no carbs but after a while you wont feel the need for your carb fix.

    Hey...it does work, asscrack. I've done it and I lost a lotta weight, never wanted bread or anything...and I wasn't eating miniscule meals...maybe you should actually try to learn about something before arguing against it.

    The thing is, ANY kind of moderation in your eating will let you loose weight. I love carbs, there is no way in hell I would give those up. I inhale bread like there is no tomorrow, and I have actually lost 40 pounds this year. Just pick a diet which works for you.

    have you ever seen a person after military boot camp, they lost so much weight. and we eat a lot, but excercise twice as much. carb or not, you do need to excercise to keep the weight. like Stanky105, i not giving up my carbs, its a balance to my daily diet. excercise is the hardest way to loose weight, but is the best way.

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not fat...I'm not even chubby. I just have this little bit of baby fat on my gut that I'm fucking obsessed with getting rid of...AAAAAAAARG.
