I just found out that the guy who cuts my hair is retiring. Except for when I was in the Navy, he's the only person that's cut my hair since I was 10 years old and the thought of going to a stranger is freaking me out a little. I don't know how to go about finding somebody decent to do it. I asked him to recommend someone and he said: "How-a the fuck should I know?" (He's Italian)

I don't even know how much I should pay. I know he used to charge $15, but for the last few years I just hand him a twenty and don't ask for change. If his teenage daughter is working that day and washes my hair instead of him, I give her a five.

So, any advice? Where do you go and how much do you pay? Are places like Supercuts as fucked up as I imagine them to be?

What kind of hair cut you have?

I have my step dad cut my hair, or I can do it my self.

It depends how your hair is cut. If its a normal guy cut, I would imagine cost cutters or a place like that would be safe, but if you have something unique you may want to get a recommendation.

what do I know I haven't cut my hair in 10 years. But I think for guy cuts its a little easier to find a good barber.

Well, I used to go to one of those overpriced places, price kept going up and up, and they could NOT cut my hair right. Now I go to Hair Cuttery, and I would trust anyone in there to cut my hair. I always have the same person because I get color.
I would try one of those, I find they are well-trained and VERY in tune with the concept of not screwing up your hair. Then you'll probably end up wanting the same person all the time(human nature) and just find out when he or she works. And I think a cut there is fifteen, I get other things done so it's always more.

The only advice I have for you, is whatever you do, don't go to a free haircut place where college kids train on you. I have, and don't reccomend it.

Hey Droog, when I have to get someone new to cut my hair, I usually stand there and watch them for awhile at the window because it freaks me out to get someone new too. If they talk to much, they will screw up your hair bad! If they don't talk at all, they could give a shit. If they are smiling, talking little and taking their time, they are great! Believe me, I have really long hair and I think it's part of my heritage. If anyone cut it too short I would scalp them. :D So, I've analyzed every type. You might not like this too much but I have come to the conclusion that the best person to cut hair is a gay guy. I can't answer the part about how much it would cost. I pay anywhere from 45 to 75 bucks and it's outrageous! I would think 15 bucks plus a five dollar tip sounds normal for a guy though.

Navy rules, Droog! I love the Blue Angels!!! (had to add that, I have FLY NAVY on my roof, just for them). :)

All I do is use a 1/2 inch blade thingy and follow the shape of my head. I have my mom or step dad do the "shape up". My hair grows really fast, we have saved hundreds over the years.

Yeah, I go to supercuts, not that I have much hair. I like to go it bald. Its easier, I don't have to worry about my hair and I don't have to comb my hair all nice. I used to have clippers to shave my own head, but they are cheap and stopped working. So ever since, I have gone to Supercuts. They usually have good haircutters there, and if you just have the average guy haircut, it would be no problem to go to Supercuts.

Well, I agree with mister kinky klown. My gay hair dresser ( and yes, that is how I desrcibe him) is the best ever. I have curly hair and he cuts just how it needs to be cut. He also loves prada and tiffanys. :D
