I just wanted to throw out my prediction. I actually made this prediction about 2 months ago, but officially stating it here. I pick the spurs to repeat as champions in 6 games.

Reasons why I pick the spurs and pistons. I like both teams is one reason. Spurs are defending champions, they actually got better with some signings they made, Tony Parker is better, Tim Duncan is better as well, they are the best defensive team in basketball, they are on fire at the moment, 16 straight wins. The pistons have the second best defense in basketball, they have 4 big guys that are great blockers and rebounders, the nets don't have true big men, they have kidd as the play maker, but hamilton and billups are great defenders as well and will keep him in check, pistons are on a great streak since getting rasheed wallace, they have a great bench now.

Off/On the topic, how come there is not a sports section on this forum?

I think it will also be Spurs/Pistons. Those two teams have the best defenses than anyone else. I think the Spurs will take it in 6.

Spurs won first game against the Lakers.
Pistons won first game against the Nets.

Everyone make your predictions on the finals before its too late.

i say the spurs are gonna win. they work together so well & none of them are trying to be a star- they know they all need to rely on eachother to win.

Wrong. The Nets scored 25 first half points, and shot 27% for the game. During the season, the Pistons held 11 opponents under 70 points, by far an NBA record. Many people will tell you Ben Wallace is the best defender in the league. I rest my case.
      Right on.

So, the Nets were off last night. I watched that game and saw how poorly they played. But I do agree that the Pistons have the best defense in the league right now, although they can’t shoot worth shit.
And don’t throw that defense wins championship crap at me. If you can’t play offense worth shit, you are not going to be a champion.

I hope the nets are in the finals cause I'm from New Jersey and stuff. But I don't know who the possible opponents are so I canno't pick who I think they will play.

Just imagine how good the Pistons would be if they took 'Melo. But if we give Darko some time, he could become something good.

The spurs have the best defense in the nba, pistons were second (tied for best opp pts total and second in opp fg%), check the stats for opponent's points scored and opponent's field goal percentage. They pretty much destroyed the nets the first game with their great defense, so you don't really have to score alot to win. The pistons had the 6th worst offense in the nba and the spurs were the 11th worst offense, but both had the best defense in the nba, so they were 1st and 2nd in nba in point differential, so they don't have to score 100 points a night to win, they can score 60 points and if the other team only scores 59, that is enough. Ben Wallace wasn't the best defensive player of the year this year, Ron Artest won that award, although Ben could have won again if Artest and the pacers didn't have such a great year. I rooted for the nets the past few years, but they failed both times in the finals, I'd rather see another team go for it, like the pistons or the pacers. I don't think the nets will make it this year anyway. The pistons could have had Melo, but they are showing they really didn't need him and Darko is going to be very good in the years to come. It was better for Melo that he went to the Nuggets and played the way he did.

About the other series going on, I'm rooting for the kings, because I think Kevin Garnett and the wolves would give the spurs a harder time than the kings and I think the Kings will mostly likely defeat the wolves. The pacers will pretty much over power the heat, although the heat are on a good streak and have some young stars. The heat may win one game, at best 2 games out of the series, I'll be happy if they just give the pacers some problems and that the pacers don't sweep them. Look for a Spurs/Kings series to go 7 games and a Pacers/Pistons series to go 7 games. Spurs in 6 over the Lakers and Pistons in 6 over the Nets.

How about lakers vs spurs, spurs in 5? The lakers have no "team" concept. They will never make it to the finals.

exactly what I said Mike. They are all trying too hard to be stars unto themselves- they forget they need one another.

The lakers are a mess, way too many ego's and issues on that team, I mean roster. individual talent won't win championships, trust me i'm a Red Wings fan. I don't dislike the lakers, but it ain't gonna happen this year for them.

How about giving the spurs some credit? The spurs held their opponents to the least points in the nba and held their opponents to the least field goal percentage in the nba. They are the best defense in the nba. The lakers are good, but the spurs are just better. I'm not a lakers fan, I always root for them to lose. I just wonder what payton and malone are going to do, this was supposed to be their last chance at a championship ring. I seriously doubt their chances will get better next year. The supporting cast of the lakers is pretty horrible, other than the "fab four", the rest of the team is very weak. Devon George, Rick Fox, Medvedenko, Kareem Rush, Derek Fisher are not even role players in my eyes. The spurs have two stars and a number of good role players. Bowen is the defensive specialist, Ginoboli gives an energy boost and is also good defensively, Turkoglu is their 3-point specialist, Nesterovic is not great but provides help on Shaq. They have role players that the lakers don't have. Phil Jackson really needs to step outside of the triangle offense and allow Malone and Payton to freely play their game. These guys were stars of their respective teams last year and Phil Jackson is using them as role players, Malone as a rebounder and defense for big men and Payton as a defensive point guard. He needs to have set plays for these two guys in the offense and they would be a mucn better team.

Jerky, your right. The lakers arent nearly deep enough to win it all. But i think Malone will probably quit after this year. He would've stayed in Utah for a few years if he wanted the scoring record, he was giving Lakers a year or two to win it all. But now that hes had trouble staying healthy, i question his durability for one more season.

Firstly, I would like to say that I know the Lakers better then anyone on this forum. The Lakers are not playing well at all in the playoffs. More the half the team is hurt while still playing; Gary Payton is being an asshole, ect. But it is amazing how easily you people forget they can still come back and take all of this. They started the season very good until they were slapped by injuries. They have 4 great Hall of Fame players on their team, and a lot of veteran experience on the team. They still have the one two punch, Shaq and Kobe. If they are going to win this series, Shaq and Kobe must be more involved in the offence. Their defense has been weak at times, but when it counts they can stop any team. The Lakers need to find their A game like they had it in the beginning of the season. I know the fab-four, Fox, Fisher, and Phil Jackson will get their heads into, and I see them taking the next four games. If not, well I will admit I am a failure as a NBA fan and retire from watching basketball for the rest of my life.

      Lakers in 6.

LOL, and what a great time to "not be playing well". And please don't say that they are a team that knows how to win championships. because that and a quarter will get you nothing, except eliminated. :D
