Ok, i thought about this after reading a thread about anarchy....people obviously have differing opinions of what is the ideal government....so my question to you is, if you could have the ideal government, your rules....what would it be? please make this realistic, don't say anything like, i'd make everyone wear one color, and be chained together, or, i'd have super powers, and beable to control the world....

A Libertarian government. Free market economy. Tiny central government. About 90% of current government agencies would be eliminated. The main duties of those that remained would be providing for the nation's defense and keeping the peace. And by keeping the peace, I mean dealing with serious crime. Drugs, prostitution, gambling and the like would all be legal. It's not the government's job to babysit it's citizens. The focus would be on personal responsibility. If you fuck up your life, don't expect the government to bail you out. No income tax. A national sales tax would cover the government's expenses. That means everyone pays their fair share, no loopholes. Only staple foods like milk and bread would be exempt from the sales tax. Foreign aid would be pretty much eliminated and we would be borderline isolationist. We would only respond militarily to a direct threat to us or our close allies. It's not our job to police the world.

You're missing my point TB. The government would not subsidize anything. That borders on socialism, which is pretty much the opposite of a free market.

How about a government exactly like ours, except the Fed (R) is an actual part of the Federal Government, and when the gov'ts new quadrant of power has direct fiscal policy.

Other than that, I'd say we strengthen punishment. You steal, all your posessions taken away. You kill, you get killed the same way. That way people who screw up in society will be screwed, and it will make whole lots more jobs for everyone

Tell me, how is that possible? How can you be told what to do by your government if it doesn't exsist?

Speaking from a standpoint of what is good for the people, I would create a government in which 60-70 percent of all income is taxed by the government. The government would in turn pay for all healthcare and the government would take an active stance in employign the people of the country. Basically I am implying a socialist government which is kind of like the Scandinavian countries. The government would have a prominent role on regulating the economy, and the ways to alter inflation would majorly side with Monetary and Fiscal Policy. In terms of style of government, a democratic republic sounds good, with officials being elected straight from the popular vote.

Now speaking strictly from my own ideas, I would create a government with enough tax revenue to be healthy. The system would be a purely 100 percent capitalist system, with every person for themselves. The government would not at all enter into economic affairs, and furthermore, the major way of adjusting inflation would be using Monetary Policy. The government would have the responsibility of protecting the nation, and also enforcing federal laws, which regulate controlled substances and the sort. Also the government would have large armed forces, and would attempt to further its interests abroad in every situation, not too much unlike the US right now.

I could go on for hours, yet, I think this is enough information....

I can't be the only person looking for an oligarchy. Anyone? C'mon! Dual consuls? That would rock!

Look at it this way, it's so much fun reading about the dirt on one world leader. But now we'd have twice the scandals! What if the leaders were twins? Man, that's awesome.

I think what the current government should do to turn into an ideal government would be to get rid of ALL the laws and start over from scratch. Then maybe in Ontario Canada it wouldn't be illegal to have a bear as the dealer in a blackjack game. :p And all hotels wouldn't have to post a message in the lobby that chickens and pigs are not allowed to eat in the rooms, and people can only keep 2 horses in the hotel's stable. (Those are real laws! )

I agree with 95% of that. I dunno about the foriegn aid part, well whatever. Im prolly a little hesitant about it since it would be such a huge change. But overall yeah i agree.

    My Government

If I could make up my own government, and have veryone live by it......These would be my rules.
No war, no chopping down of trees,no fighting, just love.
It would be a land where you wouldnt have to worry about getting murdered or raped, so there would be no use for shitty jails. No one would be of higher authority than anybody. All I can say, if you know know John Lennon, then you would know him and Ono created a land, imaginary of course, and the only word you had for this place was peace.

Im sick of all the fucking violence in America. It's bullshit we got to be afraid. If america would learn how to leave people the fuck alone, then ther would be no problems, cause no one would have a problem with us. I know none of this would ever happen, but hey....isnt it nice to dream?

This would be my land. A land of true freedom. Even drugs would be ok. Oh yeah, and NO hunting
