Ok, I know there has probably been whining on a topic such as this, but this will talk about what I think about what is going on job-wise.

I am still trying to figure out something that is REALLY, REALLY bothering me........

If you get to be a pro sports player, you earn more money than being in the army....

does this make any sense? No it doesnt.

Just think.......suppose a pro-football player, and you KNOW all of those are rich.

yet, if you are in the army and are willing to fight and die for your country, and protect your country from any outside hostile forces, you are not as wealthy as someone who just spends their life "playing around".

This is really something that pisses me off to even think about........and did you guys hear about that Cardinals WR who quit just to join the army, and ended up dying?

Please voice your opinion.............. IMO, sports players shouldnt be payed as much, and the thing that REALLY REALLY REALLY bugs me, is the fact that not long ago, and probably still today, baseball players are WHINING THAT THEY DONT GET ENOUGH MONEY, when there are people out there in Iraq getting killed and who are fighting for their country, and not to mention they arent whining.

For those who dont live in the US, you probably shouldnt even bother replying......................

so lets see some opinions! FUCK SPORTS. :@

I hear ya. Not only are they over thier fighting for our country and risking their lives, but their families are back in the states just getting by. I was watching the news the other day where they have food banks set up for the soliders family so that they can feed their children. Makes me sick that we don't take care of our soliders and their families better than that.

    Ya, that is sickening man.

You can throw a rubber ball in a basket (basketbitch.....i mean basketball) and earn more money than fighting and dying for your country.

Just think about those guys who were burnt and hung over that Fallujah bridge. Almost brings tears to your eyes to even think about.....

God bless the soldiers, and God bless America.

Ya, that is why I have officially stopped watching sports.

The only thing I watch are shows like COPS, the Simpsons, King of the Hill, and things like that.

I used to watch baseball, and football just a little bit, but I am just so sick thinking about this that I have quit watching it all.

Not to mention, just think about all of those junky sports players out there that are cheating........such as many football players on steroids, and how sammy sosa got caught cheating with a cork in his bat.

    Sports are gay.........

Ya, that guy is a true hero.

Just thinking about what he did makes me hate sports with a hate that seems to never wear off, no matter how long I give it rest.....each time I even see a sport.......even just a small video clip......it makes me sick.

That guy didnt deserve to die. True heros should live forever and ever......

I agree that pro sports people shouldn't earn as much money but if they paid the military as much, we might not get the wonderful people we have defending our Country. Those military people are true Heros. They help from their hearts, the money doesn't matter. Bless them all. The good thing is, the military gets great benefits. We can at least be thankful for that.

Even though Im a huge fan of sports, theres no reason why a person playing a game should make more than a person fighting for his country. And Tillman continues to live in the hearts of many people.

    Thanks :)

I was just wanting to share my voice with others on how sick this makes me....

Anyways, more money or less, our soldiers are all heroes, and I would probably never be as brave as any of them.

    God bless the USA.......period.

    ---------

    NOT TO MENTION

    -------------

What about that new William Hung guy.

He cant sing worth a shit, he looks like a dumbass, yet, since he showed off on American Idol, he has an official contract and is pretty much rich, so even that little fucktard is making more money than any of our G.I's out there in Iraq.

That shit makes me sick. Someone needs to pulverize that guy, and all of you know that he definetely had planned to get on American Idol just to get popular and rich.......

Almost all sports players make more money than the president. Last figure I heard is that old G.W. only gets $250,000 a year from the white house, I'm sure he gets a shitton from somewhere else though.

Pro Sports players salaries come from the fans.

Military Service personal salaries come from tax money.

Sports Arenas around the country sell out the seats to the fans.

Wars around the world do not fight in arenas for the seats to be sold out.

You really cannot compare the two or get mad at sports figures for thier pay. Try and look at thier high pay this way. The owners are the ones making a fortune off the players hard work and dedication to the game. So why shouldn't the players get some of that money or as much as they want? If the players do not get the money then the owners will just get richer from the fans.

I'm in the same boat as the military personal. My check comes from tax payers also. Look what I have to do for a low paycheck. Look what a police officer has to do for a low paycheck.

I could have easily taken a job like my 2 younger brothers who work at the refineries as operators. They make up to 60 to 70 thousand a year apiece. All three of us went into the military, then they got out and got thier jobs they have now.

I choose to get out and become a firefighter. Something I will never ever regret, even though they blow me away financially.

I hold no hard feelings against anyone for my occupational decisions in life as I made those on my own.

Most of you here are still in school and have a choice on what you want to become in life and what type of pay that job will hold for you.

I say do not be mad at what any individuals income is as they made that choice to become whatever they wanted. This is what America is all about, to become anything you put your heart and mind into. Take your choice and make it wisely as nothing will just be handed to you.

    FE

I'm taking a course this summer called the Economics of Sports...can't wait, it should be a kick ass class. I'll have a more informed opinion then, but for now, my opinion is that athletes receive the wage for their labor that is dictated by the market. Athletes belong to a business that provides a service of entertainment, and the consumers that patronize these sporting events and watch the broadcasts on television justify the enormous salaries...and they do so by their own free will. Many sports fans complain about high salaries, but are not prepared to do without sports by boycotting sports on the basis of this principle. If sports fans were prepared to do this, they would do so, and we would see smaller salaries...

While I would personally prefer that no one (athletes included) received such disproportionately high salaries, I understand that it is a business, and that the owners would simply retain their revenues as profits were they not to pay it out to the athletes. Make no mistake, the owners profit much more than any one player ever has off of professional sports.

I enjoy professional sports, but mainly watch from my television. Even though I do not like the high salaries, my love of sports supercedes this fact, and I will continue watching sports. In the absence of pricing controls, high salaries are simply capitalism at work, and there is no incentives from a business perspective to change this...
